  • Member States were encouraged, in particular, (a) to survey and profile languages found to be endangered, (b) to actively promote the recognition of endangered languages of their countries, (c) to encourage the documentation of endangered languages, (d) to create conditions to facilitate the active use of and access to those languages, (e) to foster speech communities' pride in their own languages and cultures, as well as to secure equal prestige for all languages of a State, (f) to explore the economic and social benefits of linguistic and cultural diversity, as a stimulus for sustainable development, and (g) to provide, where feasible and with assistance from the international community, funding for documentation, revitalization and strengthening programmes for endangered languages.
    وقد تم تشجيع الدول الأعضاء بصفة خاصة على ما يلي: (أ) إجراء مسح للغات التي يتضح أنها مهددة وتحديد ملامحها، (ب) العمل بهمة على الاعتراف باللغات المهددة في بلدانها، (ج) التشجيع على توثيق اللغات المهددة، (د) تهيئة الظروف التي تيسر الاستخدام الفعلي لهذه اللغات والاطلاع عليها، (هـ) تعزيز إحساس الجماعات الناطقة بهذه اللغات بالفخر بلغاتها وثقافاتها الخاصة، وكفالة تمتع جميع لغات الدولة بنفس المكانة، (و) دراسة الفوائد الاقتصادية والاجتماعية التي تترتب على التنوع اللغوي والثقافي فيما يتعلق بتنشيط التنمية المستدامة، (ز) القيام، حيثما أمكن وبمساعدة من المجتمع الدولي، بتوفير التمويل اللازم لبرامج توثيق اللغات المهددة وإنعاشها وتعزيزها.
